KU on WheelsKU on Wheels, the University of Kansas bus system, provides transportation for individuals to and from campus. This service operates Monday-Friday when KU classes are in session, including finals. Only a KUID is required to get on buses that are off campus, and everyone can board the bus free when they are on campus. For more information, please visit the KU on Wheels web site.
Students can also ride the Lawrence Transit System for free with a KU ID, which operates Monday-Saturday from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. City residents with a "T" pass or a transfer slip will also be able to get on any KU on Wheels bus. Passengers without a KU Card, city T pass, or transfer slip will pay $1 per ride.
By participating in the Park & Ride system, a KU student, faculty, or staff member receives a parking permit for a 1500-space Park & Ride lot on west Campus (near 23rd & Iowa), from which a Park & Ride Express bus transports passengers to the Main Campus. The Park & Ride Express features new buses which are easily accessible to persons with disabilities, including those using wheelchairs. SafeRide is a free taxi service for KU students that operates from 10:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. seven days a week when school is in session. SafeRide provides students with safe transportation to their homes.
JayLift is a paratransit program that provides door-to-door transportation service for students with permanent or temporary disabilities.
Johnson County’s transit service, The JO, is now offering a K-10 connector shuttle which operates between Lawrence and Overland Park. The route allows students to travel from the Main Campus and Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence to the Edwards Campus and Johnson County Community College in Overland Park.
