Project POISE is a personnel preparation project funded by the US Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs. - Robinson, S. M., & Colson, S. (2004-2008) Providing Outreach Instruction for Special Educators (POISE). U.S. Department of Education. $800,000
This project provides outreach instruction for teachers engaged in LD/ED/MR education and newly recruited pre-service teachers within the urban setting. The project offers tuition support to "plant" recruits, collaborative groups for novice special education teachers, field-based coaching/mentoring, and technological applications to facilitate collaboration across geographic impediments. This project offers licensure through an alternative, integrated, problem-based experience, rather than course work. - Smith, S.J., Griswold, D.E., Hart, J., Robinson, S.M. (2008-2013). Kansas High Incidence Preparation Project. USDOE-OSEP Special Education Preservice Training Improvement Grants CFDA 84.325T. $117.904.
This USDOE, Office of Special Education Programs project titled "Kansas High-Incidence Preparation (KIP)" will fund the Department of Special Education's work to develop, evaluate, and institutionalize a restructured and improved high-incidence personnel preparation undergraduate and graduate teacher preparation program to address the shortage of highly qualified special educators in Kansas, the surrounding region, and the nation.
