Welcome! Almost 2000 students are enrolled in School of Education programs at The University of Kansas each year. Our students have many diverse interests and backgrounds; some are international students, some are from small Midwestern towns, many are from Chicago or St. Louis but they all have some common characteristics: they enjoy working with people and they want to contribute to a better society through research and service. Education students make a difference!

As a Research I institution, KU has expert faculty who teach courses and maintain high standards for research and public service. Our programs are nationally ranked by U.S. News & World Report and many faculty members have won awards for their teaching and research.

Two-thirds of our students are graduate students, pursuing degrees in various majors including Special Education, Counseling Psychology, and Exercise Science. Masters, specialist, and doctoral degrees are available, and graduate students often participate in advanced research in their field.

All undergraduate programs in the School of Education require multiple field experiences and internships in the real world. There are several majors available in Health, Sport & Exercise Sciences, including Athletic Training, Sports Management and Pre-Physical Therapy. Our teacher education programs prepare “teacher leaders” who are highly-regarded by their K-12 employers.

The Edwards Campus provides a convenient option to students who want to take graduate courses in the Kansas City metropolitan area. Joseph R. Pearson Hall, the home of the School on the Lawrence campus, is a state-of-the-art facility with technology-driven classrooms. Many student services, including advising offices, libraries, and computer labs, are available in both locations.
